Picture

I chose this picture because my story is about Aladdin...it actually has nothing to do with my story but for some reason I have always remember this specific picture from the movie. It stuck with because of what it resembles to Aladdin in the real story, and to anyone really. You can tell he is obviously not very wealthy, sleeping on concrete and what not. But he can open up his shacks curtain and look out to everything he wants. Everything he wants is right in front of but seemingly unnattainable. The girl he wants, the riches he wants, the security and comfort he longs for but is just slightly out of his reach. It gives hope, or a foreshadowing of sorts that he can get it, although in this story it takes a magical genie, but to anyone in the real world, whatever they are looking out of their window ( in their mind, not necessarily your actual window) and wanting is out their for the taking, you just have to take it. I think it is very inspirational.

Aladdin: The Genies Side

Long ago a magical genie was sentenced to grant a master three wishes when his tiny cramped lamp was rubbed. His name was uniquely to be Genie. This story begins when a master Aladdin rubs his lamp. A street smart poor thief, Aladdin had been tricked into trying to get the lamp for an evil man. During his attempt at making it out of the underground trap he did not quite make it out, but he still had the lamp. He rubbed the lamp and Genie came out, and went through the rules of the 3 wishes. Aladdin challenged it wasn’t true, and if it were the Genie would get them out of the underground sand imprisonment. Genie performed this action to prove it to the highly doubtful Aladdin, and when out, alarmed Aladdin he only had 2 wishes remaining. To the Genies dismay he had just been duped! Aladdin had never wished to get out, only to prove that Genie was a genie by doing it.
Genie was steaming with anger but knew he had to control himself to get what he really wanted. For millennia Genie wanted to be set free, to roam the world and do as he pleases rather than granting wishes to hundreds of masters. He thought he could finally persuade this street bum to feel enough compassion for Genie to waste his 3rd wish on setting Genie free.
After becoming great friends with Aladdin, making him Prince Ali, getting the girl he wanted, and defeating the evil Jafar in a battle for life and death, Genie knew he had Aladdin right where he wanted him. He played it off like Aladdin could use the 3rd wish any way he liked but knew he would buckle and grant Genie his life long dreams. Aladdin then wished Genie to be free!
Genies magical shackles came off and he began to laugh hysterically in a condescending manner. Aladdin was very confused; he thought Genies laughter would be that of great joy and happiness. Genie yelled out loud that he had tricked the foolish Aladdin. In fact he was confined to the prison sentence of granting these master wishes for the evil he unleashed upon the world many years ago, and if any one were to ever be so foolish to let him free again nothing could stop him. Aladdin was to forever be known as the fool who let the all powerful Genie free.

First Day of Class

Today was the 1st day of English 223. During the night session we learned the entire class' names as well as learning what animals each of us chose to represent ourselves.
